Dubuque County Fairgrounds SpeedwayOpens Sunday, April 21
The 2002 NASCAR stock car racing season is set to get underway on Sunday, April 21st at the popular 3/8 mile dirt track on the Dubuque County Fairgrounds located on the west of Dubuque, Iowa.
Keith Simmons and Joe Hayes of Simmons Promotions have put together another exciting season for the tri-states race fans. Sunday night race programs will consist of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. The NASCAR Late Models will headline the card, Gary Webb of Blue Grass, Iowa will return as the two time defending track champion. In addition to the high powered Late Models the NASCAR Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Hobby Stocks will be in competition every Sunday night. New to the Sunday programs will be the addition of the Farley Flyers, the Flyers are 4 cylinder front wheel drive cars. This division is designed to allow new competitors to get started racing in an inexpensive division of cars.
In addition to the regular weekly Sunday night programs, SPI will host the popular Budweiser Open Late Model Shootouts twice in 2002. Both events will be Sunday’s, the first shootout will be May 26th and the second will wrap up another 4 day swing on Sunday, July 7th.
