SIMMONS PROMOTIONS INC ANNOUNCES 2002 SCHEDULESimmons Promotions announces the release of its 2002 schedule, with an ambitious 74 nights of racing on tap for Eastern Iowa race fans. Beginning on Saturday April 6th with the Spring Championships at the West Liberty Raceway and concluding on Saturday October 5th with the 2nd Annual Farley Fall Classic, drivers will be competing for well over $1 million in prize money. Anchoring the weekly shows will once again is the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. Iowa/ Illinois Taylor Insulation has signed on to sponsor the Late Model division at all three tracks including the Bonus Money Program for the Late Models. Iowa / Illinois Taylor Insulation will be handing out $11,000 in Bonus money to the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model competitors throughout the season. " Iowa/Illinois Taylor Insulation is excited about being associated with Simmons Promotions, being a part of the weekly racing series and sponsoring the Late Model divisions at all three tracks. The fan support of NASCAR and weekly racing is an excellent way for us to market our company and have fun doing it. We have several customers and friends who thoroughly enjoy the competitiveness and comradery of racing," explained Jim Groves President of Iowa/Illinois Taylor Insulation. Ed White President of Midwest Cash & Carry in Dubuque has agreed to sponsor the Two Track Point Fund again in 2002; over $29,300 was paid out to competitors last season. East Dubuque Savings Bank will be sponsoring a Hard Charger Award for competitors at the Farley & Dubuque Speedways. Fleck Sales Co. of Cedar Rapids will again be the Title sponsor of the Miller Time Modifieds at the West Liberty Raceway. The West Liberty Pro Stock Division has a new Title sponsor in DADCO Corporation / Parker Stores of Davenport. The division will be referred to as the DADCO Corp / Parker Stores Pro Stocks with Bonus Money paid to the competitors throughout the season. NASCAR Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Hobby Stocks will be doing battle at the Farley Speedway on Friday evenings, West Liberty Raceway on Saturdays and Dubuque Speedway on Sundays. Also doing battle in Farley and Dubuque will be the Farley Flyers, a brand new entry level division featuring front wheel drive four cylinder stock cars. Side by side competitive racing will not be the only thing to see this year at the Farley Speedway, 10 New VIP Skyboxes are in place along with preparations for a new Musco lighting system already in place. The Farley Speedway track surface has also been improved with the remainder of the clay added this past fall. The Dubuque Co Fairgrounds has also added over 90 loads of new clay the 3/8 mile Dubuque Speedway. Big weekends for Late Model fans highlights the
schedule, with the wildly successful Budweiser Open Late Model Shootouts taking
the green twelve times, each paying the winner at least $6,000. Davenport
Speedway located on the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds will host the first
Budweiser Shootout on Friday April 12th. Memorial Day weekend offers up 4
straight nights of action with separate shows beginning on Friday May 24th at
the Farley Speedway before moving to the West Liberty Raceway on Saturday,
Dubuque Speedway on Sunday and back to Davenport Speedway on Memorial Day
evening. Davenport Speedway then opens up the next 4-day swing on Thursday July
4th with Farley, West Liberty and Dubuque each hosting their second Budweiser
Shootout. Labor Day, Monday September 2nd will be the final 50-lap Budweiser
Shootout of the season at the Davenport Speedway with the Silver Anniversary
Yankee Dirt Track Classic on tap for the Farley Speedway on September Also on tap for the Farley Speedway will be the initial Iowa appearance for both the Northern All Star Late Models and the Renegade STARS series on Friday July 19th and Saturday July 20th. Top drivers from all over the country are expected to be vying for the $7,000 winners check for the Northern All Star Late Models 50-lapper on Friday and the $10,000 top prize for the 75-lap Renegade STARS feature on Saturday.
