“Yankee” Charity Auction to Benefit Kyle Petty Charity Ride
The officials of Simmons Promotions have announced that the second annual charity auction to be held in conjunction with the “Yankee Dirt Track Classic” will benefit the Kyle Petty Charity Ride. The auction will be held on Saturday, September 14th in the new Palace Ballroom at the Farley Speedway and will begin at 1 p.m. Kyle Petty founded the charity ride in 1995 and since its inaugural cross country trip the ride has raised over two and one half million dollars for children’s hospitals across the country and the NASCAR Winston Cups Wives Auxiliary. In addition the Petty family is in the process of building a children’s camp for those with chronic diseases. The Victory Junction camp is under construction and will open in 2004 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Kyle Petty Charity Ride, held annually, has logged over 19,000 miles and has encompassed over 1,900 riders including NASCAR celebrities.
Keith Simmons of Simmons Promotions stated “we are very excited about this years charity auction and we hope to make this event bigger and bigger each year, the monies raised through the auction will go to a great cause benefiting children with chronic Diseases.”
The auction will include a wide variety of NASCAR collectibles and memorabilia along with racing apparel. Any drivers or race teams wishing to donate items to the charity auction can contact the Farley Speedway office or simply bring their items to the Speedway office.
