Davenport Speedway Set To Host Bud Shootout Opener Friday, April 11

Route to Davenport Speedway with Locust St. being closed. The Davenport Speedway located on the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa will be the site of the 2003 Budweiser Open Late Model Shootout opener. The series has become very popular with eastern Iowa dirt track race fans. The Bud Open Late Model shootouts boast the largest car counts of any series currently operating in eastern Iowa. The series brings together the very best in dirt track Late Model racing under a common set of rules. Friday, April 11th the action will get underway on the big ½ mile dirt track with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow. The headliner of the night will be the Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation 50 lap Late Model feature which will award the winner a cool $6,000. The format for the Bud Shootouts has been altered slightly for the 2003 season with the elimination of the non-qualifiers race with the consolation events awarding $200 for finishing positions 4 through 8. Late Model drivers expected to compete in the Bud Open Shootout at the Davenport Speedway include, Steve Boley, Ray Guss Jr., Rollie Frink, Gary Webb, Darren Miller, Brian Harris, Denny, Dave & Andy Eckrich, Jeff Aikey, Jay & Johnny Johnson, Steve, Joe & Ed Kosiski, Kyle Berck, Rob Toland and many more. A total field of 60 Late Model drivers could easily be reached for this event. In addition the open wheel Modifieds will also be in action.
The April 11th event will be the first of four Bud Shootouts to be held at the Davenport Speedway in 2003. Additional race dates include May 26th, July 3rd and September 1st. Simmons Promotions of Farley, Iowa will be the sole promoter of the Bud Open Shootouts.
