NASCAR Winston Cup Challenge Set At Farley Speedway - Bill Elliott, Ken Schrader & Ray Evernham Highlight August 14th Event

Farley, Iowa:  The NASCAR Winston Cup Challenge event set for August 14th at the Farley Speedway will feature a very special evening of racing. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will highlight the on track action and the fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet three true legends of the sport of racing.

16 time most popular NASCAR driver Bill Elliott will be on hand to greet the fans along with Ken Schrader the man who will race anything anywhere. In addition to these two very accomplished drivers, Elliott’s team owner Ray Evernham will also be on hand. The Palace ballroom located at the Farley Speedway will be open at 4:30 p.m. and will feature a pre-race autograph party. The on track action is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. with a full program of racing. Elliott and Schrader will be in competition in the NASCAR Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation Late Model division. Evernham is slated to compete in a Modified.

Ray Evernham raced a Modified for years at the Wall Stadium in New Jersey prior to working his way up the NASCAR ladder. As a crew chief for Hendrick Motorsports, Evernham recorded 47 NASCAR Winston Cup victories with driver Jeff Gordon. Evernham since has moved on to be a team owner with Bill Elliott driving his #9 Dodge.

Elliott is one of ten NASCAR drivers to have achieved over 20 million dollars in earnings on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit. Elliott was crowned the NASCAR Winston Cup point champion in 1988. In addition “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville” holds the record of recording the fastest lap ever in a stock car. That lap was recorded at the Talladega International Speedway at a speed of 212.809 MPH.

Ken Schrader earned rookie of the year honors on the Winston Cup circuit in 1985 following a very successful open wheel racing career. Schrader earned championships in USAC Silver Crown Cars and Sprint Cars. Schrader has qualified for the Daytona 500 pole three times. Schrader is very well traveled and has raced just about anything that goes fast and turns left. In addition Schrader is now a track owner having a financial interest in the I-55 Speedway in Pevely, Missouri near his home in Fenton, Missouri.

Race fans are encouraged to come to the Farley Speedway early on Thursday, August 14th to greet these three outstanding ambassadors of our sport. The Palace Ballroom will be open at 4:30 and will entertain fans until the on track action heats up at 7 p.m.  The Farley Speedway is located just off of US Highway 20 on Olde Farley Road on the west edge of Farley, Iowa. Due to this special event, racing will not be held at the Farley Speedway on Friday, August 15th.
