Eckrich Pads Point Lead At W. Liberty With NASCAR Win

West Liberty, Iowa: The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series provided the fans with a very exciting night of stock car racing action on Saturday, August 9^th at the West Liberty Raceway.

When the final checkered flag of the night was waved it was Denny Eckrich in victory lane scoring a very important feature win as Eckrich fights for positioning in the NASCAR Midwest Region. Every win enhances Eckrich’s chances of a very strong finish in the region. Mike Klinkkammer led the 25 lap race for the first 16 laps before Ryan Dolan was able to get his #66 Phillips Brothers Rentals car into the lead. Eckrich had reeled in the leaders and was setting up a challenge for the lead when a late race caution bunched the field. Eckrich was able to move his Grove powered Barry Wright into the lead on lap number 20 and went on to score the win over a fast closing Steve Boley. Dolan, Klinkkammer and Todd Davis rounded out the top five.

The Miller Time Modified feature win went to a very young talented driver from Davenport. Mitch Way had troubles in the heat race and dropped out forcing him to start the feature shot gun on the field. Way did not let a 24^th position start bother him as he steadily worked to the front passing both high and low. Way was able to overtake race leader Rob Verbeck on lap number 17 and go on to record the win over Verbeck, Rich Smith and Ryan Dolan.

The Double D Performance Pro Stock feature win went to a Simpson again this week. Only this time it was Chris Simpson topping the 20 car field. Chris took the lead on lap number 4 and went on to dominate the feature. Dale Franklin took the checkers in second ahead of Chad Simpson and Matt Bodman.

Dan Allbright scored the ten lap feature win in the NASCAR Hobby Stock feature. Allbright took the lead from Scotty Pratt and went on to record the win. Ron Schruers came on strong late in the race to take second over Matt Greiner and Stan O’Brien.

NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing will continue at the West Liberty Raceway on Saturday, August 16^th. Hot laps will take to the track at 6 p.m.
