2004 Hobby Stock Rules and Car Specs

Farley / Dubuque (11-29-03)

BODY: Any U.S. full body passenger car. Frame must match body. GM on GM Etc. Wheelbase 108". NO External Rub Bars ahead of rear axle. All cars must have tow hooks on the front and rear. After market steel bodies optional. Quarter panels and fenders must be steel. Aluminum door allowed. Must be stock appearing or weight will be added. Cockpit interiors allowed. No Spoilers. The floor pan of the driver’s compartment from the drivers seat forward and up a minimum of 6" in front of the driver’s feet and the right side of the cockpit must be made of .125" thickness steel or aluminum. OEM bodies may have OEM aluminum or Fiberglass hood and deck.

CHASSIS: Car frames must be completely stock to a point 6" forward of centerline of rear axle. NO under slung frames. Bumpers must be stock or plastic formed covers No accept ions. Tow Hooks Front & Rear 3/8” cable minimum or may use chain. Will Be Enforced.

APPEARANCE: Paint all cars neatly and brightly. Numbers must be painted neatly on both sides and on top of car. Numbering must be done using minimum 24" height with 3" strip width. Must have min 6" tall car number visible from front of car.

ROLL CAGE: Full 4-post roll cage must be used. Three door bars on left side MANDATORY. Roll bar must be braced to the frame. Main roll cage, halo, and driver door bars must be at least 1 ¾" outside diameter tubing with a minimum wall thickness of .095. Vent bar required, 1 ¼"OD Minimum. Flame resistant roll cage padding required on all bars within reach of driver.

ENGINE: No limit on engine size, but must run GM in GM, etc. OEM steel Heads, with the exception of the World SR I-052, parts #'s 4350 through 4371, World Products Sportsman II Series, Dart Iron Eagle Series, Must not remove Manufactures markings. No Aluminum intakes or blocks. All cars must have an operable starter. Mechanical fuel pump only in stock location. Holley 4450 350 CFM 2-barrel carburetor. Carburetor spacer maximum size 1 ½”, (2) gaskets maximum, one top one bottom with a maximum thickness of .070 allowed each. Ignition system MSD type system may be used. #1 cylinder must be ahead of ball joint. Headers allowed, exhaust must exit under car parallel to ground. No Roller Cams. All cars will be required to be equipped with a round dry element type air cleaner, maximum height four (4) inches. Maximum diameter seventeen (17) inches. All air cleaners are required to have a complete metal top and bottom. No carburetor air dams or devises permitted to increase the airflow to the carburetor, either inside or outside of the air cleaner, and must rest on carburetor.

WEIGHT RULE: Maximum 358 cid GM or 364 cid Ford or Dodge 3200 lbs after race w/driver. Engines larger than 358 cid GM or 364 Ford or Dodge 3300 lbs after race w/driver.

DRIVE SHAFT: Must be painted WHITE. An approved steel drive shaft safety hoop must be used at a point 6" behind front universal joint, minimum ¼ x 2" and securely fastened. Drive shaft must be stock type and made of steel.  

WEIGHTS: All weights must be painted WHITE with car number on them. They must be securely fastened with 7/16” or larger bolts. NO weights allowed in driver's compartment, attached to rear bumper or fuel cell brackets.

SAFETY, SEAT BELTS, SEATS, HELMETS, AND WINDOW NETS: All seats must be made of aluminum or steel and approved by Officials. All seats will be required to be mounted to the frame or the roll cage of the car. All cars will be required to be equipped with a minimum 5-point harness. All belts will be required to be mounted to the frame of the car or to the roll cage. Helmets should be of full-face shield type and are subject to inspection. All cars will be required to use a full size window net in the driver's door at all times. Fire resistant shoes & gloves recommended. Fire resistant suit required.

SUSPENSION: Floater rearends only. All trailing arms must be stock and mounted as stock. Reinforcing allowed. Rear-ends may be locked. Screw jacks allowed. After market tubular uppers and mounts allowed on Front Suspension Only. Tubular uppers may be adjustable.

TRANSMISSION: Stock-type manual with clutch inside bell-housing. 1, 2 or 3 disc clutches allowed. No direct drive devises on manuals. No couplers, No Bert or Brinn type Transmissions. Steel bell housing or scattershield required.

FUEL CELL: An approved manufactured fuel cell with a maximum capacity of 22 gallons. Fuel cell will be required to be encased in a metal container. All fuel cells must be equipped with a rollover valve in the vent fitting and in the fuel fill. Fuel cells must be required to have pick up location on top of cell. It is highly recommended that all fuel cells be equipped with foam. Fuel cell will be required to be mounted to the frame of the car. Fuel cell will be required to be secured with straps or tubing around it. Fuel cell cannot hang below the bottom of the rear end tubes with the car setting at race height. All cars will be required to be equipped with a fuel cell guard that is mounted separately from the fuel cell and comes to the bottom of the fuel cell. Minimum 1 ½ " tubing must be used for fuel guard. No electric fuel pumps

SHOCKS: One per wheel.

BRAKES: Operative 4 wheel, disc or drum combination. Rotors made of cast iron or cast steel.

WHEELS: Maximum 8" wheels. All rims must be steel, reverse rims allowed. Bead-locks will be allowed on right rear only. Only foam or bead-lock mud plug combinations allowed.

TIRES: HOOSIER Super Chain Link 26.5 27.5/8.0 "A" Compound all four corners.

RADIOS: No receiving or transmitting devices allowed.

MIRRORS: Not allowed.

BATTERIES: Must securely fastened, one only.

POINTS: Points will be awarded to the driver. We want fans to know who is driving the car... so report any driver changes to the judges. Remember only individuals with a registration card can drive. NO changing of drivers once the racing program has started.
