Dubuque, Iowa: The Dubuque Speedway hosted the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series with a special night of racing as the fans and drivers celebrated the 4th of July, 2004. The night included a full program of racing with twin 25 lap features for the NASCAR Late Models plus three make up features making for a 10 feature race program. 118 drivers signed in to be a part of the action.
32 outstanding NASCAR late Model drivers signed into the pit area looking to qualify for the twin 25’s. The first 25 lapper saw Darren Mish establish himself early as the man to beat, taking the lead from his second row start on lap number one. Denny Eckrich ran second ahead of his younger brother Andy, Ace Ihm and Jeff Aikey rounded out the top five.
The second Late Model feature took the green with Chad Simpson setting the pace. Simpson ran the low line of the track and led the race all the way to the white flag when Ace Ihm was able to make the pass using the extreme top side of the track. Ihm took the win by a car length over Simpson. Denny Eckrich took third ahead of Jeff Aikey and Jeff Tharp.
