Aikey Scores NASCAR Late Model Win As Dubuque County Fair Wraps Up
Dubuque, Iowa: The 2004 Dubuque County Fair came to a close on Sunday night with an action packed night of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing action in front of a packed house. An outstanding field of 113 drivers took part in the racing program.
Defending Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Model champ Jeff Aikey placed his #77 Late Model in victory lane for the first time in 2004. Aikey took advantage of a late race yellow and got to the high side of Dan Shelliam to take a two lap dash to the finish for the win. Shelliam had led the race the first 23 laps using the extreme low side of the track. Aikey was coming on strong late in the race using the high side. The late race yellow made for two very exciting laps as Aikey took the win by a car length over Shelliam. Jeremiah Hurst continued his string of top fives by running third on Sunday night ahead of Steve “Ace” Ihm.

Barker overtook early race leader Ryan DeShaw on lap number 12 and went on to lead the final 8 laps for the win. Steve Wetter turned in a fine run in taking second at the stripe ahead of Jason Schueller and Sean Rupp.
Bobby Moyer advanced all the way from the sixth row to score the win in the NASCAR Pro Stock feature. Moyer was able to hold off fellow Dubuque Pro Stock hotshoe Jimy Brokus for the win. Jeff Reinert took third ahead of Keith Kiernan.
Jacob Seegmiller took the lead at the midway point of the B-Modified feature and went on to hold off defending track champion Mark Massey for the win. Seegmiller was able to work his car around the low side of the track as Massey came on strong on the top side. Jarret Franzen turned in a great run in his rookie year taking third ahead of Tim Current.
Duane Ahmann took the Hobby Stock Dubuque County Fair feature win on Sunday night topping a very competitive feature. Ahmann was able to get by race leader Jarvis Eastlick with two laps to go and hold on for the win over Eastlick. Jason Reichers took third ahead of Ed McIntyre.
