Boley Sails To Noels Tree & Crane Service Mid-Season Championship Win At Farley Speedway; Schulte Takes First Ever Modified Win
Farley, Iowa: The Farley Speedway presented the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Mid-Season Championship races sponsored by Noels Tree & Crane Service of Iowa City, Iowa on Friday night.
The Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Models ran a 35 lap feature which was won by Steve Boley in very convincing fashion. Boley took the green flag from his fourth row outside starting position and quickly shot to the front taking the lead on lap number four. Boley went on to dominate the race in lapping up to the fifth place finisher. Jeff Aikey settled for a distant second followed by Curt Martin, Todd Davis and Jeff Tharp. Ron Barker made his first start of the season in Jeff Tharp’s backup car and ran a very strong sixth.
A first time winner made his way to victory lane in the NASCAR Modified division. Mark Schulte scored his first ever win in holding off the best in the business, Ron Barker and Scott Nesteby. Schulte drove a perfect race in riding the top side to the win. A late race caution set up a 2 lap dash to the finish with Barker on Schulte’s rear bumper. Schulte was up to the challenge in taking the checkers first. Shane Burbridge rode out a nasty flip before one lap could be completed. Burbridge was transported to the hospital but did not believe to have any serious injuries.
Jeff Kennedy scored the fifteen lap Mid-Season championship win in the NASCAR Pro Stock feature. Kennedy held off Bobby Moyer in taking the win. Jeff Reinert, Jeff Valentine and Bob Bollon rounded out the top five. Duane (Nutsy) Ahmann came all the way from the back to the front to take the feature win in the NASCAR Hobby Stock feature. Ahmann took the race lead at the midway point of the feature and went on to take the win over Dan Albright and Jason Rauen.
Jeremy English has been on recent hot streak in the B-Modified division. English scored another feature win on Friday night taking the checkers ahead of Leon Wilson and Damien Miller.
The girls put it on the boys again on Friday night in the Farley Flyer division. Jena Barthelemes celebrated her parents 30th anniversary with a feature win on Mid-Season championship night. Jena took the win over fellow female competitor Becky Roth. Brian Kammerude took third.
Friday night July 16th will be Jesup/Independence night at the races, will all residents being admitted to the races free. Hot laps will take the green at 7 p.m.
