Todd Davis Doubles Up At Farley Speedway
Farley, Iowa: The Farley Speedway presented NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action on Friday night with East Dubuque Savings Bank Kids Back To School Night at the races. 8 Bicycles were given away to the youngsters plus a big nickel scramble was held during the intermission.
Todd Davis almost did not make the trip to Farley on Friday night as he was having motor problems and did not have the engine fired until after 4 p.m. Davis was able to get the engine running and decided to try it out at Farley. The trip was certainly worthwhile as Davis scored feature wins in both 25 lap Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Models. The first Late Model feature saw misfortune take several heavy hitters out of the race early. Curt Martin fell out early after running up front, Jeff Aikey broke a driveshaft on his way to the front. Steve Boley and Denny Eckrich both were in the pits early and came back to finish very strong. Todd Davis took the lead from Matt Mish on lap number 8 and went on to score the win in the first main event. Davis put his car out front and rode the high side to the win. Denny Eckrich came all the way from the back in the 29 car starting field to take second over Steve Boley who also came from the back. Ace Ihm and Dan Shelliam rounded out the top five in the first feature.
The second NASCAR Late Model feature saw the top twelve finishers from the first feature inverted to start the second main event. 27 Late Model drivers took the green flag and again Todd Davis took the lead on lap number 8. Davis again rode the high line to the win taking the checkers ahead of Jeff Tharp. The 12 team of Tharp debuted a new car on Friday night and the bugs came out quickly as Tharp turned in fine run in taking second ahead of Jeff Aikey and Ace Ihm. Dan Shelliam ran fifth in both features.
The Quarter Master Modified feature saw a first time visitor to the victory lane at the Farley Speedway. Sean Rupp won a feature earlier in the season at the Dubuque Speedway and the win on Friday night was his first ever at the Farley Speedway. Rupp held off a very persistent Jason Schueller in taking the 20 lap feature win on Friday night. Mark Schulte ran third ahead of Larry Herring.
Ty Kleiner shot to the front early taking the lead on lap number 2 of the 15 lap Pro Stock feature. Kleiner started the race in the 9th position but was able to blast to the front. Gary Crawford started the main event in the 15th position and was able to move to the front taking second ahead of Bob Moyer and Jeff Reinert.
Jacob Seegmiller scored the 10 lap feature win in the B-Modified division taking the win over Jeremy English and Alan Heister.
Steve Dunkel has been running very well as of late in his NASCAR Hobby Stock. Dunkel turned in a great run in taking the win over Mike Hughes and B.J. Schmitt in the 10 lap feature.
Al Brink extended his point lead in the Farley Flyer division by taking his Dodge Neon to the win. Joe Zrostlik ran second ahead of Adam Wills.
Friday, August 29th will be season championship night at the Farley Speedway. Championship races plus 2 track point fund races will be run. Hot Laps will get underway at 7 p.m.
