Webb Scores Late Model Feature Win At Grant County Fair 8-25-2004

 Lancaster, WI:  The 2004 Grant County Fair got underway on Wednesday night with stock car racing on the high banked 3/8 mile dirt track.  The rains that fell in the Lancaster area on Tuesday and early Wednesday left the track very tacky all night long making for very fast racing.

 The headliner of the night was the 25 lap Late Model feature. The green flag flew and Rob Moss of Iowa City, Iowa took command and went on to lead the first 13 laps building a comfortable lead. The caution flew for the car of Stan Thomas when he came to a stop on the back chute. On the restart Gary Webb was able to overtake Moss. Webb was able to lead the final 12 laps en route to the big win. Moss took second ahead of Dan Shelliam who crossed under the checkers with fire under the hood. The fire was quickly extinguished with no apparent real damage. Steve Boley and Ty Kleiner rounded out the top five.

 The Modified feature belonged to Ron Barker. The Dubuque, Iowa driver drew the number one in the redraw and went on to set sail and lead the entire 20 lap feature. Steve Wetter took second at the finish line ahead of Jason Walrack.

 The Pro Stock feature saw Jimy Brokus get out front early and drive to a big win over Jason Robbins. Brokus led all 15 laps of the main event which saw Bruce Schmitz take third.

 Jarvis Eastlick scored a hard fought win in the 10 lap Hobby Stock feature. Eastlick held off a late race challenge by Rick Runde in scoring the win. Larry Harris ran a strong race in taking third.

 Mike Bockhop scored his second Limited Stock feature win of the season at the Grant County Raceway since SPI has been running the races. Bockhop took the checkers ahead of Duane Toay and Ryan Federman.

  Travis Johnson drove his number 00J Outlaw 4 cylinder to the 10 lap feature win on Wednesday night capturing the checkers ahead of Mike Rymarz and Jerry Johnson.

 The final racing event of the 2004 season will be held on Saturday, September 4^th when the Grant County Raceway welcomes the fire breathing IRA Outlaw Sprint car Series. In addition to the high powered sprints all support classes will be in action.
