Aikey Continues Hot Streak At Farley
Speedway
Friday, August, 9th the
Farley Speedway hosted True Value Back To School Night at the races featuring
the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.
Jeff Aikey continued his hot streak
in winning his 8th Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Model
feature. Aikey started in the sixth row but quickly worked to the front and was
challenging race leader Steve Boley by lap number five. The two veteran Late
Model drivers battled for several laps swapping the lead back and forth before
Aikey was able to take the top spot for good, Aikey used several grooves of the
smooth track on his way to the lead. Boley fell back to third but was able get
back around Josh McGowan for second at the checkers. McGowan, always a top five
finisher, took third ahead of Ace Ihm and Todd Davis.
Veteran Scott Nesteby used a lap 13
restart to shoot to the top side and overtake race leader Mike Burbridge on his
way to the Quarter Master Modified feature win. The win was Nesteby’s second of
the season at the Farley Speedway. The lead pack included Nesteby, Burbridge and
Ron Barker for much of the race. The three drivers delighted the fans with
plenty of wheel to wheel action. Nesteby took the win by less than a car length
over Burbridge and Barker.
A first time winner took the checkers
in the Pro Stock main event on Friday night. Texas Ranger John Walker led the
flag to flag event the entire distance in making his first ever visit to the
Farley Speedway victory lane. Bobby Moyer pressured the leader the entire way
but Walker drove a perfect race in taking the hard fought win. Dan Shelliam came
from deep in the pack to take third.
Big Ed McIntyre scored his first ever
NASCAR Hobby Stock feature win at the Farley Speedway. McIntyre has been racing
for 8 years at Farley making his first ever feature win a very special night.
Randy Benn returned to racing after a couple of years off and drove to a second
place finish on Friday night. T.J. Leslein took third in the main event.
Becky Roth drove her Toyota named
“Delores” to the win on Friday night topping the Farley Flyer feature event.
Roth took the win ahead of Travis Kaiser and Mark Jaeger.
The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series
presented by Dodge will continue at the Farley Speedway on Friday, August 16th
with a full program beginning at 7:30 p.m.
