Neal Rides High Side To Farley
Speedway Victory Lane
The Farley Speedway hosted night
number three of the 2002 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge on
Friday, May 3rd. The night produced four first time winners and one
repeat winner in the young season.
Terry Neal took off from his outside
front row starting position and rode the high side to the 25 lap Iowa Illinois
Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Model feature win. The race went flag to flag with
Neal leading every lap. Bobby Hansen turned in his finest performance ever at
the Farley Speedway in taking second. Hansen was able to catch Neal late in the
race as lapped traffic came into play but Neal was able to break free from the
lapped car before Hansen was able to complete the pass for the lead. Neal took
the checkers ahead of Hansen with Duane Coulson and Dan Galant rounding out the
top four.
Ron Barker had his early season
winning streak in the Quarter Master Modifieds stopped at two by Jason Schuller.
The two outstanding Modifed drivers put on quite a show for the fans with Barker
trying every inch of the track to mount a serious challenge on the strong
running Schuller. This night belonged to Schuller as he held his line perfectly
in scoring the win by less than a car length over Barker. Scott Nesteby
recovered from a flat tire and worked his way back to a third place finish ahead
of Larry Herring.
Bobby Moyer was not only a first time
winner in 2002 at the Farley Speedway but his Pro Stock win on Friday night was
his first ever since moving up from the Hobby Stock Class a year ago. Moyer
fought off the constant challenges of last week’s winner, Andy Eckrich in
scoring the 15 lap feature win. Moyer drove a flawless race in taking the
checkers first ahead of Eckrich, John Maher and Dan Shelliam.
The only repeat winner of the night
came in the Hobby Stock division. Larry Benn scored the win on opening night and
was able to hold off Chad Hallahan and T.J. Leslein in the main event to score
his second win of the 2002 campaign.
Mark Jaeger snapped Jason Roth’s win
streak in the Farley Flyer division at two by taking the 10 lap flag to flag
event. Jaeger drove his 1994 Cavalier to the win ached of Cliff Schanbeck and
Travis Kaiser.
Friday, May 10th the Farley Speedway
will host a full program of NASCAR Weekly Racing Series action plus an extra
Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation feature. Twin 25’s for the Late Models will
headline the program along with an entire race program in the other four
divisions. Hot laps will get underway at 7 p.m. with racing to follow.
