Race leader Jerry King suffered a mechanical break down while leading Friday nights Klein Custom Homes IMCA Late Model feature and Kings misfortune was a gift for Nick Marolf, who went on to lead the final ten laps of the 25 lap main event and score his second win in as many weeks at the Farley Speedway. Luke Goedert came on very strong late in the race to take second at the finish line ahead of Ron Klein.
The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds feature event saw Hazel Green, Wisconsin driver Jason Roth dominate the 20 lap feature. Roth ran the high side of the smooth racing surface to the impressive win over Mark Schulte and Troy Cordes.
The Dubuque Fire Equipment Sportmods win went to Tyler Soppe who used the win to take over the point lead in the very tough Sportmod division. Soppe raced to the checkers ahead of Troy Bauer.
The Victory Ford IMCA Stock Car feature win went to Jerry Miles, who has been riding a hot streak at the Farley Speedway. Phil Holtz led early in the main event before settling for second.
First time winners at the Farley Speedway in 2014 were Quinton Miller over Dustin Chapman in the Peosta Automotive Hobby Stocks and Dylan Kuhl in the Sport Compacts over Barannon Beschen.
The Farley Speedway will return to racing action this Tuesday, June 17th as the UMP Summernationals Tour comes to the fast 3/8 mile track. Drivers from several states will be on hand gunning for the $10,000 first place prize money in the Open Late Model 50 lap feature. The IMCA Late Models will also be in action as the fans will be treated to a special night of all Late Model racing. Hot laps will get underway at 6:30 pm with racing to follow.
