Posted on June 10, 2015 at 01:24:18 am
West Liberty, Iowa: Saturday nights racing action at the West Liberty Raceway saw three drivers visit victory lane for the first time this year and 2 drivers made return trips. In the headliner of the night, the 25 lap iWireless IMCA Late Model feature, Chad Holliday had the 32c hooked up as he shot out to front early and went on to lead the main flag to flag. The racing behind Holliday was very good as several drivers were able come through the field to record top five finishes. Kevin Kile came from his fourth row start to finish second ahead of Denny Eckrich who had started back in the fifth row.
22 Performance Concepts Modifieds took the green flag in the main event on Saturday night. When the checkers flew it was Wheatland, Iowa’s Justin Kay scoring the hard fought win in his new 15K Modified. Kay took the lead just past the hallway point from Brandon Banks who went on to finish second. Bruce Hanford rode the top side of the perfectly prepared track to a 3rd place finish.
Defending track champion, Aric Becker scored his first Weikert Iron & Metal Sportmod feature win of the 2015 season. Becker took the checkers ahead of Charlie Weber and Aaron Osweiler.
David Brandies drove Johnny Spaw’s Kile Motorsports IMCA Stock car to the feature win by fighting through the pack and overtaking leader Greg Gill in the later stages of the main event. Gill ran strong all race long in taking second ahead of Kirk Kinsley.
Jason KlerkDeRus scored his second feature win in a row at the West Liberty Raceway in the US 6 Bodyworks IMCA Sport Compacts. KlerkDeRus came from a fifth row start to take the win over Ryan Walker and Shane Evans.
Racing will continue on Saturday, June 13th at the West Liberty Raceway with hot laps at 6:30 with the first race of the night taking the green at 7 pm.
