The Month of August welcomed in new winners to Victory Lane at the Dubuque Speedway as Simmons Promotions Inc offered 2 for 1 specials for the fans.
Curt Martin jumped into the early lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series feature. Martin driving the back-up Rocket Chassis Late Model for Ed White & Ronnie Barker used the high line and held off early race challenges from his teammate Ronnie Barker and then a late race challenge from Points Leader Ace Ihm. Martin who has not raced regularly at Dubuque since 2003 when he won his last feature was able to find his line on the high side and take the Victory. Ihm finished second and held onto his slim points lead as Ronnie Barker settled for 3rd. Luke Merfeld and Andy Eckrich rounded out the top 5.
The Modified feature looked like Ryan Deshaw was going to take his first feature win ever. Deshaw used the low line and kept his car pinned to the bottom. As the white flag flew, Deshaw came upon lap traffic and this allowed second place Steve Johnson just enough time to make the pass thru turns 3 & 4 and win his first feature of the year at the Dubuque Speedway. Deshaw settled for second with Ronnie Barker 3rd, Scott Nesteby 4th and Steve Wetter 5th.
Keith Kiernan shook off some bad luck from the Dubuque Co Fair the week prior and scored the win in the Pro Stock Division. Jason Robbins was 2nd, Mike Hughes 3rd, Jimmy Brokus 4th and Jeff Valentine 5th.
Luke Goedert cruised around the low groove and had things hooked up in the Stock Car division. Jerry Merkes ran 2nd with Mike Lynch, Jason Brimeyer, and Ed McIntyre completing the top 5.
Shawn Thomas Jr. scored his first feature win in the B-mod division. Thomas has been knocking on the door of Victory Lane and finally made his way Victory Lane on August 7th in the first of 2 features. The 2nd feature looked to be between Jason Roth and BJ Schmitt. As the 2 were coming thru turns 3 & 4 for the checkers, they tangled and allowed Jed Frieburger running in 3rd to take the win.
Denny Udelholfen scored the win in the limited stock division. Farley Flyer 4 cyl features went to Willy Cambell and Joe Zrostlik.
