Hansen Celebrates 40th B-Day With NASCAR Win At Farley Speedway, Reinert Scores First Ever Win In Pro Stocks
Farley, Iowa: Race fans were treated to a variety of action Friday night at the Farley Speedway as the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series provided close racing, a hard crash in the Late Model feature and a wild roll over in the Farley Flyer main event.
Bobby Hansen turned 40 on Friday and everyone at the Farley Speedway was well aware of the fact as they were greeted by signs announcing Hansen’s milestone birthday. Being 40 has agreed with Hansen so far as the night belonged to the very popular second generation Center Point, Iowa driver. The Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation NASCAR Late Model feature was red flagged before one lapped could be completed for a multi car accident. Fortunately no one was injured but the cars of Rusty Patterson and Chad Simpson sustained major damage. On the restart Bobby Hansen took command and went on to build a straight away advantage until a mid race caution which put Steve Boley and Jeff Aikey on Hansen’s rear bumper. Boley was able to show his nose to Hansen on several occasions but Hansen drove a perfect race in taking the win over Boley and Aikey. Ty Kleiner ran a strong fourth ahead of Curt Martin.
Ron Barker took over the lead in the NASCAR Modified feature on lap number 5 and went on to record his sixth feature win in seven starts at the Farley Speedway in 2004. Barker scored the 20 lap win over Mark Schulte, Jason Schueller and Scott Nesteby.
The first win is always the sweetest and Jeff Reinert has been in search of his first Pro Stock win for quite sometime. Friday night belonged to Reinert as he put his #97 in victory lane for the first time. Reinert took over the top spot on lap number 10 and went on to hold off fellow Dyersville driver Levi Benn to capture the checkered flag. Jeff Valentine and Dane Steiner rounded out the top four.
Larry Benn crossed the finish line second on Friday night in the Hobby Stock main but was awarded first following a post race inspection of the winner. An illegal carburetor was found on the apparent winner handing the win over to Benn. Doug Yates continued his consistent season with another second ahead of Jarvis Eastlick and Tom Turpin.
Mark Massey worked through traffic quickly and shot into the lead and went on to record the B-Modified feature win. Massey scored the win over Jake Seegmiller, Leon Wilson and Jed Frieberger.
The Farley Flyer feature was red flagged on lap number 2 following a violent rollover by John Flury. The 00 of Flury rolled several times in mid-air before hitting the surface and rolling a few more times. Flury quickly jumped from his car uninjured but his Dodge Neon was not quite as fortunate. Joe Zrostlik drove to the 10 lap win out racing Becky Roth, Brian Kammerude and Adam Wills.
Friday, June 25th will be Legends night at the races plus it will also be Manchester night with all Manchester residents being granted free admission. Action will get underway at the Farley Speedway with hot laps at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Farley Speedway Race Results 6-18-04
