Barker Grabs First Ever Late Model Win at Dubuque Speedway
July 3, 2005

Barker Takes "Firecracker 40" to Claim first ever Late Model Feature win at Dubuque Speedway

Barker, Shulte, Hughes, Goedert, Schmitt, Roth, Laughlin Take wins at Dubuque.

Fans of the Dubuque Speedway were treated to some great racing action in all divisions of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series program Sunday Night on the multi-grooved 3/8th's mile track. Several features had winners that came from deep within the field to take feature wins.

Ronnie Barker claimed his first win ever in a Late Model Sunday night at his home track in the exciting 40 lap Late Model Feature. Jeff Tharp took the early lead & lead the first 14 circuits. But "Mr Excitement" Ace Ihm worked his way up to the top spot on lap 15 as he took the lead from Tharp with Ronnie Barker running in 3rd. On lap 16 Barker worked his way past Tharp to do battle with Ihm. The next 20 laps had the crowd on it's feet as Ihm & Barker battled back & forth for the lead. On lap 33 Barker took the low side & powered by Ihm for good to go on for the win in his Masterbilt car making him also the new points leader in the highly contested points battle. Gary Webb finished 2nd, Andy Eckrich claimed 3rd. Jeremiah Hurst finished 4th and Steve Boley came from the 16th starting position to finish 5th.

Points leader Mark Schulte continues to pile-up impressive feature wins as the 21 year old "hot-shoe" claimed his 4th win at Dubuque & 7th win this season overall in the Modified Division. Ronnie barker took the early lead & appeared to be on his way to another strong feature win when the power plant let go on lap 12. Jason Schueller took over the point as Schulte & Scott Nesteby are in hot pursuit. On lap 15 Schulte takes over the top spot as Schueller & Nesteby battle for second. Schulte goes on to nip Schueller & Nesteby at the finish line to claim the checkers. Schueller finished 2nd with Nesteby, Brian Culberson, and Steve Wetter rounding out the top 5th.

Mike Hughes lead wire-to-wire to win his 2nd A-Main Feature of 2005 at the Dubuque Speedway Sunday night in the Pro Stock Division. West liberty native Sam Harroun finished 2nd. "The Red Rocket" Jimmy Brockus finished 3rd, Justin Mitchell 4th, and Levi Benn finished 5th.

Luke Goedert takes an easy win from the 7th starting position in the Stock Car feature ahead of hard charging Jerry Merkes. Ed Mcintyre, Jason Rauen, and Kelly Welter round out the top 5.

BJ Schmitt became a 1st time winner in the B-mod division in the 12 lap feature. Current points leader Jed Freiburger settles for 2nd with Eric Glenndenning 3rd, Jason Roth 4th and Jacob Seegmiller finishing 5th.

Becky Roth takes another Limited Stock feature win as the current points leader extends her lead and DJ Laughlin takes an easy win in the entertaining Farley Flyer 4 cyl divison as he lead wire-to-wire.

Racing action continues Sunday July 10th with Mid-Season Championship Night(35 lap Late Model Feature paying 1000 to win). Hot laps at 6 with racing action to follow at 6:30. For more information, visit our web site at www.Simmonspromotionsinc.com
