Plenty of Fireworks as Boley Takes "Firecracker 40" Feature at Farley Speedway

Week 7 of the Dodge NASCAR Weekly Racing Series got in the books under beautiful weather and great racing action in all 7 divisions Friday Night on the multi-grooved 1/2 mile track.

Steve Boley of West Liberty, IA started the 4th of July weekend off just like he wanted to by taking the win in the exciting "Firecracker 40" Late Model feature at the Place of Speed.

Boley rocketed from his 10th place starting position to take the lead away from early race leaders Mark Curwen & Luke Merfeld. Boley & Merfeld would swap the lead back & forth but Boley grabbed the lead for good on lap 8 and drove to an impressive win with his Mastersbilt Spec Engine Late Model. A few cautions would bunch the field behind Boley, but the former Midwest Region Champion easily pulled away from the field. Curt Martin who came deep in the field finished an impressive 2nd holding off Jeremiah Hurst who settled for 3rd, Luke Merfeld 4th, and Ace Ihm rounds out the top 5.

Ronnie Barker looks like he found the "typical" Barker set-up for his NASCAR Modified. The Dubuque Native doubled up tonight as he picked up impressive Modified feature wins in both the make-up feature from last week & feature from tonight. Barker, who started 7th in the make-up feature powered past Randy Less on lap 15 to take the top spot. A few cautions would bunch the field up, but the Defending Track Champion cruised to take the checkers ahead of hard-charging Steve Johnson. Steve Johnson finished 2nd with Scott Nesteby, Mark Schulte, and Darren Walch rounding out the top 5 in the make-up feature. In the regular feature, Barker took the lead from early race leader Mike Burbridge on lap 4 & set sail as he & current points leader Mark Schulte battled it out for the top spot lap-after-lap. But the laps would run out for Schulte as Barker goes on to take the checkers ahead of Schulte, who finished 2nd, Steve Johnson got 3rd, Jason Schueller 4th, and Darren Walch finished 5th.

Justin Mitchell continues to look impressive every week in the Pro Stock division as he took the win in the 15 lap feature. Mitchell grabbed the lead from "the red rocket" Jimmy Brockus on lap 14 and takes home the victory. Mike Hughes finished 2nd with Jimmy Brockus in 3rd, Levi Benn 4th, and Jeff Reinert 5th.

The Stock Car Division saw Jason Rauen grab the lead early on and went on to win the feature event. Ed McIntrye gave chase to Rauen, but settled for 2nd, current point leader Luke Goedert finished 3rd, Jerry Merkes 4th and Jarvis Eastlick 5th.

Jed Freiburger used the high line to pass race leader Shawn Thomas on lap 2 in the B-Mod feature to go on & take the win. This is Freiburger's 2nd A main feature win at Farley this year. Jason Seegmiller finished 2nd with Jeremy English 3rd, Jason Roth 4th and Shawn Thomas rounding out the top 5.

Limited stocks saw current point leader Kelly Welter make it 3 in a row as he takes another win. Shawn Stackis takes the feature win in the Farley Flyers. Stackis shot out front on lap 3 by taking the lead from early race leader Dustin Wilwert & cruised to the win ahead of Wilwert, Danny Kennedy, Randy Vandevegle, and Brian Tschiggfrie rounded out the top 5.

Racing action continues next Friday July 8th with Noel's Tree & Crane Service Mid-Season Championships(35 lap late model feature with bonus money - $1200 to win) & double Pro Stock Features with racing action in all 7 divisions. Hot Laps start at 7 PM with racing to follow at 7:30. For more infomation, visit our web site at http://www.simmonspromotionsinc.com/
