Ihm, Barker take double Late Models features at Farley
The Palace of Speed hosted double Late Model features and 3M night at the races on Friday Night. The first NASCAR Dodge Racing Series Late Model feature was a make-up from the June 24th program which had rained out the Late Model feature. Steve Boley jumped out into the early lead in the make-up feature. Ace Ihm gave chase to Boley as well as Ronnie Barker, and Luke Merfeld. As the leaders entered lap traffic, the lap cars jammed up and caused Boley and Barker to spin. Boley suffered body damage to his car and entered the pits under caution to make repairs. Boley was able to rejoin the field from the back along with Barker. When the race resumed, Ace Ihm jumped into the lead with Merfeld 2nd. Barker and Boley steadliy worked there way thru the field. Barker was able to get into 2nd after a late race caution. The sprint to the end saw Barker chase down Ihm and work Ihm for the last 3 circuits. Barker looked for the pass in turns 3 & 4 on the last lap and slipped under Ihm, but Ace was able to get his car hooked up and won by inches over Barker in the exciting Late Model feature. Boley was able to claim 3rd with Gary Crawford 4th and Luke Merfeld 5th.
The second feature of the night belonged to Ronnie Barker. After coming so close in the first feature, Ronnie Barker was a man on a mission. Barker grabbed the lead from early race leaders Bobby Hansen and Jon Rogers. Barker was able to take the win, his first in the Late Model Division at the Farley Speedway. Jeremiah Hurst was 2nd, Steve Boley 3rd, Ace Ihm 4th and Gary Webb rounded out the top 5.
Ronnie Barker jumped into his modified and worked his way up from his 6th place starting position to grabbed the lead early in the Modified division. Barker opened up his lead and never looked back to claimed the comfortable win. Point leader Mark Schulte work his way into 2nd place by features end. Steve Johnson was 3rd, Darren Walch was 4th and Scott Nesteby was 5th.
Bob Bollon has taken a liking to the Pro Stock division. Bollon took the lead early and never looked back as he used the high line to score the win. Ken Martelle gave chase and wound up 2nd, Jeff Valentine was 3rd, Justin Mitchell 4th and Jim Brokus rounds out the top 5.
In the Stock Car Division, it was team 98 night as Jason Rauen takes another win in the Stock Car Division. Duane (Nutsy) Ahmann chased Rauen to the checkers and ended up 2nd, Jarvis Eastlick 3rd, Ed McIntyre 4th, and Jerry Merkes 5th.
Ken Boyes found victory lane after a previous week of frustration. Boyes took the lead early and would not be denied the win in the B-Mod division. Jed Friedburger was 2nd and Jeremy English was 3rd.
The Limited Stock division saw Phil Holtz from Manchester win. Denny Udelhofen was 2nd and Jeff Willis was 3rd.
The Farley Flyer 4 cyl division was a fast and furious race with Jena Barthelmes leading it flag to flag with John Flurry pressuring the entire race.
Racing action continues on Tuesday Night July 19th with the UMP Summer Nationals at the Farley Speedway and more of the NASCAR Dodge Racing Series again next Friday night for SW Logistics night at the races. For more information, log onto our web site at www.Simmonspromotionsinc.com
