Barker Claims 2nd Late Model feature Win at Farley
July 22, 2005
The Palace of Speed hosted some exciting action in feature competition at SW Logistics night at the races on Friday Night. The fans were treat to great weather and racing action with lots of passing in all divisions on the multi-grooved 1/2 mile track.

Bobby Moyer jumped out into the early lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model feature. 1st year full-time Late Model Driver Ronnie Barker gave chase to Moyer as well as Gary Webb, and Steve Boley. On lap 4, Barker would power his way pass Moyer to take over the point with Webb & Boley in hot pursuit. Webb would chase down Barker and work Barker for the next 20 circuits until lap 23 when Webb sustained a flat left rear tire allowing Boley & Curtin Martin to pass him. Barker would not be challenged the last 2 circuits by current point leader Boley & went on to claim his 2nd feature win in the Late Model Division at the Farley Speedway. Boley would settle for 2nd, Martin was able to claim 3rd with Gary Webb 4th and Steve Ihm 5th.

Scott Nesteby shot to the early lead in the Modified Feature. Ronnie Barker worked his way up from his 6th place starting position to grabbed the lead from Nesteby on lap 8 & appeared to headed for another victory. But mechanical problems struck the Dubuque driver on lap17 allowing Nesteby to re-claim the lead with a hard-charging Mark Schulte running in 2nd. Points leader Schulte would catch Nesteby & make the pass on the outside of turn 2 on the last lap to take yet another exciting victory. Nesteby would settle for 2nd, Steve Johnson was 3rd, Leon Wilson was 4th and Jan Messer was 5th.

First year driver Justin Mitchell continues to impressive people in the Pro Stock division. Jeff "the bounty hunter" Valentine took the lead early but Mitchell would slowly pick cars off 1 by 1 and never looked back as he used the high line to score the win. Valentine gave chase and wound up 2nd, Jeff Tharp was 3rd, Levi Benn 4th and Brian Beaudry rounds out the top 5.

In the Stock Car Division, it was team 98 night as "Racin" Jason Rauen takes another win in the Stock Car Division with no power steering. Current points leader Luke Goedert chased Rauen to the checkers and ended up 2nd, Jarvis Eastlick 3rd, Ed McIntyre 4th, and Jerry Merkes 5th.

Kenny Boyes took the lead from the pole position in the B-Mod division & checked out for the first 8 circuits but the motor let go allowing 2nd place Jeremy English to take over the point. English would march on to take the win after starting last barely nipping Jed Freiburger at the line. Friedburger was 2nd and Jacob Seegmiller was 3rd.

The Limited Stock division saw Phil Holtz from Manchester make it two in a row as he takes the win. Kelly Welter was 2nd and Denny Udelhofen was 3rd.

The Farley Flyer 4 cyl division was a fast and furious race with John Flury leading it flag to flag with Danny Kennedy pressuring the entire race. Flury would like to dedicate the win in memory of Brian "Bugsy" Kramer(00) & Donald Welter.
