We think you'll enjoy the weekly excitement of high speed, side by side IMCA racing action. Dirt track stock car racing is a favorite pasttime of many people and we are sure you will grow to love it as much as we do.

It looks to be an exciting year as 2016 marks the 16th year of operation for SPI. Along with weekly racing, many specials highlight the schedule.

Keith Simmons purchased the assets of Frieden, Inc. , including the Farley Speedway from Judy and the late Al Frieden in the fall of 2000. Simmons Promotions began promoting NASCAR weekly racing in 2001 at the Farley (IA) Speedway, the West Liberty (IA) Raceway, and the Dubuque (IA) Fairgrounds Speedway, which are still operated by SPI today. The Muscatine county fairboard awarded the contract to operate West Liberty Raceway to another promoter for 2004, but SPI returned for the 2007 season. During the interim, SPI operated weekly racing at the Grant County Speedway in Lancaster, WI on Saturday nights. Other tracks that SPI has promoted special events at include the Davenport (IA) Speedway and the Winnebago County Speedway in Pecatonica, IL.

In 2010 the NASCAR sanction was dropped and SPI tracks began the transition to the IMCA sanction. Divisions now running under the IMCA banner at one or more of SPI operated tracks include Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks, and Sport Compacts. INEX Legends, Micro Mods, and 2 Man Cruisers also compete on selected nights.

SPI has continued the tradition of running the Yankee Dirt Track Classic, at the Farley Speedway, which was started by Al Frieden back in 1978 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA. Other special events currently hosted are the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models, the UMP DirtCar Summer Nationals Hell Tour, MLRA Late Models, and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds. Series hosted in previous years include: Busch All Star Tour, World Dirt Racing League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, its predecessor the Lucas Oil NARA DirtCar Series, World of Outlaws Late Models, Corn Belt Clash, USMTS Modifieds, IRA Sprint Cars, Sprint Invaders, and the AMA Flat Track Motorcycles.

Simmons Promotions owns and operates the Farley (IA) Speedway on Friday nights. Al Frieden bought the track in late 1988 after the All Iowa Fairboard decided to pave Hawkeye Downs Speedway, ending the great tradition of dirt track racing there. He began to rebuild the whole facility into a high banked 1/2 mile and the first race was held in 1989. Simmons Promotions bought the track in late 2000 after the passing of Frieden.

Since then many more improvements and additions have been made including the construction of the Palace Ballroom, a large multipurpose banquet facility. Sky boxes were built outside turn 1 and later atop the grandstands down the frontstretch. Musco lighting was added in 2006 and in 2008 a 3/8 mile track was added using part of the half mile. Unfortunately 2014 became the first year the half mile was not used.

Simmons Promotions is contracted to operate racing at the West Liberty (IA) Raceway on Saturday nights at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds. It is said to be the best 1/2 mile in the Midwest. The wide, flat half mile has seen improvements through the years as well. Musco lighting, new caution lights, an expanded outer pit area, and new catch fences complement the historic grandstand and a rarity at racetracks, trees in the infield.

Simmons Promotions is also contracted to operate racing on Sunday nights at the Dubuque (IA) County Fairgrounds Speedway. The fastest high banked 3/8 mile west of the Mississippi has seen its share of improvements recently as well. A new outer retaining wall was built from turn 1 all the way around to turn 4, where there had not been a wall previously. Sky boxes have been added atop turn 4 and new Musco lighting and caution lights were added in 2013. New dirt was added in 2015.
