Posted on June 10, 2015 at 01:22:01 am
Farley, Iowa: Friday nights racing action at the Farley Speedway treated the fans to lots of close racing on the very wide and smooth 3/8 mile dirt track. Nick Marolf scored his second consecutive feature win in the Klein Custom Homes IMCA Late Model division. Marolf shot to the front from a second row start and was on cruise control when a minor caution on lap 12 bunched the field. On the restart Marolf again was able to move away from the field to score the win. Joel Callahan ran very strong on Friday night in crossing the finish line in second ahead of Jon Merfeld.
Troy Cordes scored his first Farley Speedway win of the 2015 season in topping the Precision Transmission IMCA Modified 20 lap main event. Cordes advanced form his 3rd row start and was able to overtake early leader JD Auringer on his way to the win. Auringer ran second ahead of Matt Gansen.
Austin Heacock made a late race charge to take the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Sportmod win. Heacock overtook last week’s winner Tyler Soppe in the closing laps and held off Soppe at the checkers.
Phil Holtz was able to break out of a pack of cars battling for the lead to pick up the IMCA Stock Car feature win. Holtz took the 15 lap win over Chris Luloff and Jerry Miles.
Leah Wroten once again showed how talented of a driver she is in winning the Hobby Stock feature event. Wroten held off point leader Quinton Miller in taking the checkers first.
The Farley Speedway will continue weekly racing on June 12th then will prepare for a major special event featuring the UMP Summernationals on Wednesday June, 17th. The UMP open Late Models will be gunning for the $10,000 first place prize money and the support class will be the IMCA Late Models racing for $1,000 to win.
