Farley, Iowa: Friday nights racing action at the Farley Speedway included kids trick or treat night sponsored by Paul Engler of Engler/Oberbrockling Insurance of Dyersville. The kids were invited to the front chute during intermission and were greeted by drivers and cars and the kids left the track with bags loaded with candy.
Charlie McKenna from Clear Lake, Iowa arrived in Farley at 5:15 pm and purchased a complete car from Jason Rauen. McKenna qualified 11th and worked to the front and took the lead following a lap 11 restart and went on to fight off challenges by Joel Callahan and Tyler Bruehning in scoring the 25 lap Klein Custom Homes IMCA Late Model feature win. McKenna took the checkers ahead of Bruehning and Jeff Tharp.
The Precision Transmission IMCA Modified feature saw Mark Schulte overtake fellow Delhi driver Mike Burbridge in route to a hard fought win. Schulte made the move late in the 20 lap main that resulted in the win. Burbridge held on for second ahead of Jerry Luloff.
The GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Sportmod feature saw Austin Heacock gain a few very valuable points in the season long chase for the track championship by winning the feature event. Heacock crossed under the checkers ahead of Scott Busch and Jason Doyle.
Greg Gill made the long tow from Muscatine and came away with a feature win in the IMCA Stock Car division. Gill took the checkers ahead of Chris Luloff and Tim Helle.
Quinton Miller padded his point lead in the season long chase for the Hobby Stock track championship on Friday night with another feature win. Miller held off Leah Wroten at the finish line.
Casey’s General Stores will present the Season Championships at the Farley Speedway on Friday, August 28th with hot laps at 7 pm and racing to follow. The next racing event at the Farley Speedway will be the 38th annual Dubuque Hose & Hydraulics “Yankee Dirt Track Classic”. The “Yankee” will get underway on Wednesday, September 16th and will run nightly through Saturday, September 19th.
